DESCRIPTION:

Spectacular lot of Afghan Tourmaline running from a Neon Blue and Green to a Teal colored Greenish Blue. This is the material that has made Afghan Tourmaline the benchmark in Tourmaline perfection! Most of these are a SUPER lovely color and ideally shaped crystal sections (Many of the stones in here are practically preformed because of the crystal structure of Tourmaline) and there are even a few nodules. Much of this is the material that runs $75-100+ per carat once cut and is practically impossible to get your hands on in the rough. Please note that most of the stones in this lot will cut eye-clean or better with the bulk being able to facet 10x clean; however, there are a few very slightly included stones that would be at max 5% but probably less.

The color on these stones is just profound and there are a few breathtaking Blue-Green bicolors in here. This is the material that you see retailing for $8.00+ per carat! This is TOP TOP faceting grade material having almost every bad stone picked out and there are quite a few killer pieces in here. We are confident you will get several stones from this lot that go over 1 carat at the eye-clean+ level. Most of the stones in this lot will cut eye-clean or better with the bulk being able to facet 10x clean. Practically every stone in the lot is a nice and chunky crystal section capable of giving above average yield.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
