Super lot of neon bluish green to sea-foam Afghan Tourmaline in LARGE sizes! This is a great AFFORDABLE lot that runs from a nice electric almost Paraiba colored Bluish Green to a Neon Green and Sea-Foam color! This has quite a few shades so the material is good to get a little taste of variety in Afghan Tourmaline. Most of these pieces are very slightly to slightly included (Two of the smallest pieces are moderately included); however, many have nice eye-clean areas. Generally speaking, we estimate that about 70%+ of the material in here will cut eye-clean to very slightly included with a little work with many being eye-clean. There are inclusions in here that are commonly found in Afghan Tourmaline but these are not excessive and many of the inclusions are situated such that they will mask up well and/or facet out easily. Some of this is the material that runs $200+ per carat in clean 2+ Carat stones and is quite difficult to get your hands on in the rough. Please note that some of the elongated rough crystals will need to be cut into multiple stones to get eye-clean gems because of minor inclusions.

This is mostly medium to high faceting grade material. If you are interested in similar colored material in smaller sizes there are several lots up which were initially one large lot and broken up into more uniform size lots to fit client needs better. Please note that the pictures really don't do the material justice. This stuff has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
