DESCRIPTION:

Super lot of Afghan Tourmaline crystal sections running from a neon Paraiba greenish blue to a super saturated turquoise color. These are ideally shaped for high weight returns with most being nice crystal sections. The color on these is probably as good as it gets and this lot is roughly 70% Medium Top to Top Facet Grade. Most of these are very slightly included; however, most inclusions should easily cut out or mask up well. There are a few stones in here that are moderately included; however, even they have the most spectacular color and proper orientation will work miracles in masking the inclusions! Some of this is the type of material that sells for $200.00+ per carat once cut and we only have a limited amount of it on hand so don't miss this opportunity to pick up this lot!

If you are interested in similar colored material in smaller sizes there are several lots up which were initially one large lot and broken up into more uniform size and color lots to fit client needs better. Please note that the pictures really don't do the material justice. This stuff has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
