DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of Afghan Tourmaline containing practically every color of the spectrum. This lot is really indicative of the best Afghanistan has to offer in Tourmaline color and almost every stone in here is a cutter! This is TOP TOP faceting grade material having all the bad stones picked out and there are quite a few killer pieces in here. We are confident you will get several stones from this lot that go over 1-2+ carats at the eye-clean+ level with ease. The average stone weight goes up considerably if you take out 20% or so of the smallest material.

Most of the stones in this lot will cut eye-clean or better with the bulk being able to facet 10x clean. There are also a few lovely bi-colors in here but they tend to be smaller in size. There are some lovely Turquoise colored stones in here that we have seen selling for top dollar as select rough ($15.00+ per carat). Most of these pieces are nice and chunky crystal sections capable of giving above average yield. The pictures say it all!! We got this lot at a steal and are passing on the savings to you! This is one of the best lots we have up for the price. Don't miss the opportunity to pick this up.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
