Spectacular Deep Dark Crimson Red to Dark Blood Red Garnet Faceting Rough! Please note that we are unsure of the origin of this material. This was sold to us as Russian; however, we have our doubts. There are a few semi alluvial to alluvial stones in here with a few that we are confident are Malaya Garnet (These tend to be the moderately to heavily included stones in here). We are inclined to believe this material is of African origin but can't give a guarantee. Most of this material is fairly large running from 3-5 grams with the average weight per stone being around 4 grams. The material is dark and should ideally be cut under 3 carats. This is really high grade material with the bulk of the material capable of producing eye-clean or better stones; however, it is dark. We are estimating that roughly 85% of this lot is high grade facet rough and we are confident you will be very pleased with this purchase.

This is a great buy for cutting; however, we would recommend this lot for resale. This lot is similar to the material that you see being sold on Ebay as Crimson Garnet and is fetching on average $.50 per carat for clean material. This is therefore a great Ebay reseller lot. The lot is priced to sell so don't miss out.

1. Nigerian and Namibian Mandarin Garnet deposits are fast being depleted with most of the earlier larger material gone already. Initial finds were alluvial in nature and as those sources are depleted more work will be required to unearth these treasures at the primary deposits. This in the end will boil down to higher prices and sporadic production.
