DESCRIPTION:

Pastel blue Aquamarine crystal lot from Gilgit in northern Pakistan. The bulk of this lot is composed of crystals and/or crystal sections and most stones look extremely clean; however, there are some minor veils and inclusions that will need to be worked around in many stones. This lot is a little light in color but that is more than made up for with the clarity and size of the rough. Don't let the frosted exterior fool you as the bulk of this is medium to high grade facet rough and we are confident that you will get some killer stones out of this lot with little effort.

This is a great deal as many of these are nice crystals and crystal sections while quite a few stones in here show sharp crystal faces and/or full termination making them well suited for crystal collectors.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghanistan seldom produces Aquamarine on a regular basis; however, Pakistan is well known for its significant Aquamarine deposits. The largest Pakistani deposits are situated in the north close to Gilgit. The material is typically light in color but very clean and often available in large sizes. Much of this material is also treated to produce Golden Beryl and various shades of Yellow. It is important to note that many people are selling this Yellow Beryl as natural. From our experience and dealings we have come to the conclusion that most of the material that is Yellow Beryl and claimed to be of Afghani origin is actually treated Pakistani material. In 7+ years of traveling to the region and purchasing from the local markets we have NEVER once come across any Natural Golden Beryl from the region.
