DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of Cornflower Blue to Neon Green Afghan Tourmaline Faceting Rough. Overall this material is a bit small and therefore ideally suited for commercial cutting; however, there are quite a few stones in here that one could easily custom cut. It is very difficult to acquire much in the realm of Blue Tourmaline from Afghanistan much less the world and even though most of this material is a bit small there are several stones in here that would probably sell for several hundred dollars themselves! Several stones in the the lot should Facet 2-3+ Carat finished Gemstones and there really is no way you can go wrong with this lot for the price.

The lot is running roughly 70% TOP Facet Grade and the lot as a whole is probably more along the lines of 80-85% Facet Grade. Most stones tend to be ideally shaped crystal sections or nodules and will give high weight returns; however, some stones do have minor inclusions that will need to be worked out to produce the cleanest stones possible. The colors in this lot range from the most spectacular Bright Blue to a Neon Green!  It just doesn't get ANY better than this folks!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
