DESCRIPTION:

Spectacular lot of Afghan Tourmaline running from a Neon Paraiba Blue to a Neon Greenish Blue. Most of these are SUPER lovely Neon Blue chunky crystal sections (Many of the stones in here are practically preformed because of the crystal structure of Tourmaline). After a quick run through the lot we estimate that roughly 65% of this material is Top Facet Grade with the remainder being a mixture of Facet and Cab Grade. After carefully cobbing and sawing up the remaining 35% you may end up with roughly 75%+ Top Facet Grade Rough from this lot.

Roughly 40%+ of this lot is the caliber material that you see retailing for $8.00+ per carat and is a lovely shade of Neon Blue! Overall the bulk of the material is suitable for commercial cutting or resale; however, there are quite a few killer pieces in here worth custom cutting. We are confident you will get several 1+ carat finished gems from in here with a little work. This is one of the best colored lots we currently have up and it is one of our best deals likely to go quick so don't pass this by!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
