DESCRIPTION:

Incredible Lot of Blue Olive to Steel Bluish Green Afghan Tourmaline Facet Rough. This is the first time we have seen this unusual colored Tourmaline in the market and we knew we had to pick it up. Overall the material looks like it has a very unusual steel overtone unlike anything we have seen in Afghan Tourmaline before. The unusual color of the material allowed us to pick it up for next to nothing and we are passing on the savings to you.

This lot is running roughly 95%+ Top Facet Grade with most stones capable of producing eye-clean or better finished gems. Most of these stones are crystal sections with quite a few being terminated at one or both ends! This material looks a bit dull on the exterior but is SPECTACULAR once cut! Since this was a VERY small pocket we picked up the entire production and broke it into two lots that we have placed up on our E-Newsletter divided according to quality. You will rarely see Afghan Tourmaline at this per carat price in this size range! Don't miss this deal as we don't know if any more of this color will be produced in the near future!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
