Awesome lot of Paraiba Blue to Neon Green Afghan Tourmaline Top Faceting Rough. This lot is really indicative of the best Afghanistan has to offer in Tourmaline color with some of the wildest Neon Paraiba Blues and Greens we have seen! We have run through the lot and taken out almost every stone that was included so as to only leave the top caliber facet material in the lot. This lot is running roughly 95%+ Facet Grade with roughly 90% of the lot being Top Facet Grade material.

Most of these pieces are nice and chunky crystal sections capable of giving above average yield. Several of the stones are also beautiful crystals with sharp termination at at least one end!! 1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
