DESCRIPTION:

Spectacular lot of Afghan Tourmaline running from a Neon Blue to a Neon Green. This is the material that has made Afghan Tourmaline the benchmark in Tourmaline perfection! Most of these are a SUPER lovely color and ideally shaped crystal sections (Many of the stones in here are practically preformed because of the crystal structure of Tourmaline) and there are even a few nodules. Much of this is the material that runs $75-100+ per carat once cut and it is practically impossible to get your hands on in the rough. I would say that roughly 70% of this material is facet grade while 55% of the lot is top facet grade capable of cutting eye-clean or better. The remaining 30% of the lot is mostly Cabbing grade being moderately to heavily included; however, there are some stones that could be classified as semi-facet and/or facet grade.

The color on these stones is just profound and there are a few breathtaking Neon Blues and Greens. We are confident you will get several stones from this lot that go over 1 carat at the eye-clean+ level with a little hard work.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
