This is a fairly NEW FIND of Scapolite coming from Badakshan, Afghanistan. This is one of a few lots of this material we have gotten a hold of that is a decent color in nice chunky crystal sections. Most Scapolite coming from Badakshan tends to be in slender elongated crystals and really isn't well suited for faceting because of dimensions; however, this lot is a pleasing change as most pieces are chunky enough to yield some lovely finished gems. We estimate that roughly 85% of this is medium to high grade facet rough. This is a RARE find and I haven't heard of anyone else who has this material from Afghanistan so don't miss your chance to pick it up.
