DESCRIPTION:

Lot of Vivid Aqua to Purplish Blue Sapphire Facet & Cab Rough. This material was sold to us as being produced locally mixed in with a Kyanite lot that was definitely of Tanzanian origin. We have a feeling that this material is of African origin; however, some of the stones in the parcel are well defined crystals that look reminiscent of Sapphire from Ceylon. Some of this material looks like it has been treated though that is purely speculative at our end. The lot is just an odd lot we are moving out and we have priced it as such. Overall the lot is mostly Cabbing Grade; however, there are some stones in here that make this is a bargain for the price. You really can't go wrong at $2.00 Per Gram for this material!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Kashmir has long been the benchmark in Sapphire perfection; however, production has dwindled to a standstill over the last few decades. There are rumors that mining has been restarted though we really haven't seen any worthwhile material entering the market at a decent price. In addition to Kashmir there are several other locations within Pakistan and Afghanistan that have begun to produce Sapphire and Ruby over the last few years. There is great potential in the Sapphire and Ruby rough that comes from here as it is in its natural state not having been treated. Most sellers out here are looking for sources to treat their material but none seem to have had any luck so far.
