Awesome ULTRA RARE Lot of Afghan Hackmanite Faceting Rough! OK folks, we have had several requests from clients for Hackmanite Parcels. After wandering the marketplace for several days in hunt of Hackmanite we came across a handful of lots available and these lots constituted the larger portion of production for the year. Out of the 2 largest lots available we purchased the smaller considerably better priced lot and have broken it up into 3 lots you will see listed on our E-Newsletter. We DON'T anticipate seeing any large influx of this in the market and don't know how much more we will be able to offer. We were EXTREMELY lucky to come across this rough and were thrilled at the clarity and especially the color! The color ranges from a Pale Purple to an almost Medium Dark Plum and a few of these stones should cut in the 1+ carat range with a little hard work at the eye-clean to slightly included level. If you do a little research in the market place you will see that Hackmanite Gems command some pretty wild numbers and this lot is not worth thinking about twice, pick it up before it is gone.

Hackmanite is known to change color by exposure to different forms of light and its color change is known to be tenebresent. The color of the material at times can be enhanced by storage in a dark place; however, may fade upon exposure to light. This change is repeatable and not permanent. In addition, Hackmanite also produces some wild colors under UV light and is highly sought after by collectors. We don't know if we will ever get any more of this material so for all you collectors this is a win win situation! Without doubt this has to be the best colored material that has come across us in quite some time!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Hackmanite Facet Rough is a transparent variety of Sodalite that is "tenebresent" and is extremely rare to come across. Afghanistan has been a steady supplier to mineral enthusiasts for Hackmanite crystals and we have rarely come upon any facet grade material.
