OK Folks, we have been hard at work for the last year trying to procure total buying rights of a New Spessartite Garnet Find and we are glad to say that we have acquired our first parcel of the material of which this is the first lot on our E-Newsletter. We are glad to be the first to introduce this wonderful new Mandarin Garnet from none other than Afghanistan! This material closely resembles the Namibian and better quality Nigerian Mandarin Garnet Seldom Available in the market; however, many of the stones have a VERY subtle Peach overtone like we haven't seen before. Many of these are the most Pure Orange stones we have acquired with some of the material being a Tangerine color. This is the best material we have acquired so far but we are still working on securing a buying contract with the mine owner. There were a few stones that initially came out going over 10 grams running the Mandarin Orange in color with very high clarity! Those stones however, held far higher value as Mineral Specimen and therefore we did not acquire them as Facet Rough.

This lot has the most spectacular Mandarin Orange color. Since all Afghan finds are from Primary Deposits almost all of these stones show Crystal faces or natural etching with many showing high external luster. Many of these are nice LARGE chunky Crystal Sections with a bright Mandarin Orange color for the most part. There is one exceptional stone in here weighing in at around 75 Carats with some VERY Gemmy areas that may cut several Eye-clean to very slightly included stones in the few carats range. All of these stones have some inclusions with the bulk being slightly to moderately included with most small stones being EXTREMELY clean. These inclusions are typical for this Garnet species and it is extremely rare to find clean Mandarin Garnets in this size. Most finished stones will be very slightly included to moderately included. There are a few cleaner stones in here that will cut very slightly included or better with a little hard work; however, these tend to be smaller in size. Some of the stones do have very gemmy sections that are probably well worth the price of the lot itself that will cut smaller eye-clean stones. Overall I think roughly 1/2 this material is good to high facet grade but we have seen far lower quality faceted selling for top dollar! Our price on this is better than most Nigerian and Namibian dealers for like quality material and we are confident that this will make any experienced Mandarin Garnet connoisseur VERYYYYY happy.

1. Afghanistan & Pakistan are said to house most of the next centuries new finds of stones and we are constantly seeing new stones being discovered. We are trying our best to stay at the forefront of the New Finds but it is becoming extremely difficult with the locals catching on quick. This material floored us the first time we saw it and we are confident it will do the same for you. The color on some of the Mandarin Garnet coming from Afghanistan is just mind blowing and reminiscent of the old Namibian finds! Please note that this is NOT a large find and since this material is coming from a primary deposit at extremely high altitude there is considerably higher expenditures involved in unearthing this material!
