New Find of what has been called Axinite Facet Rough from Gilgit, Pakistan. Ok folks, we don't have the slightest clue what this is. I tried to research this online but found nothing under Axinite or something similar coming from the region. This is some of the weirdest material we have EVER seen from this area. It has a weird color that changes on different axis. At times stones appear Pastel to Dark Purple while at other angles you can get a Rose Red to Yellowish Papadrascha Sapphire color. These crystals are select material from what we purchased and went through. We are confident that this is extremely rare in the facet grade as we have almost never seen it before. We have never seen this material in facet grade in Pakistan and have only seen it a handful of times in specimen form. Almost every piece in this lot is a crystal or crystal section and the lot is running conservatively 30%+ facet grade. I don't have much information on this other than it is coming from Gilgit and one of the more knowledgeable specimen dealers identified it as Axinite. This is a great oddity to pick up for the collection as we don't know anything that occurs like this stone naturally. |
