APATITE CRYSTAL!
CLASSIFICATION: | Miniature Specimen |
COLOR: | Pastel Yellow to Lilac |
ORIGIN: | Baltistan NWFP, Pakistan |
SIZE: | 1.7 x 2.0 x 3.5 cm |
WEIGHT: | 22.1 Grams |
DESCRIPTION: |
Apatite crystal with a small Black Tourmaline cluster and some tiny Quartz crystals. The Apatite crystal is perfectly terminated at all ends with the tip exhibiting an unusual partially indented termination. The Apatite crystal looks to have very transparent areas and shifts from a Pale Yellowish color to an almost Lilac. The luster on the Apatite crystal ranges from poor to excellent depending on the crystal face being examined. It looks as though this had inter-grown on a Black Tourmaline crystal and its removal fractured the Tourmaline. The remaining fractured Black Tourmaline is protruding from the side towards the top. This specimen has not been completely cleaned and cleaning should enhance the luster. |
