DESCRIPTION: |
Inter-grown Apatite Crystals and Black Tourmaline combination. The central Apatite crystal is 4.2 cm and has excellent termination at both ends. The second Apatite crystal that is protruding from the side at a 45 degree angle is unfortunately damaged and is not terminated. Their is a Black Tourmaline cluster that has inter-grown with these Apatites and it seems to be undamaged with much of the cluster exhibiting either sharp termination or etching with excellent luster. The luster on the Apatite crystals ranges from poor to excellent depending on the crystal face being examined. This specimen has not been completely cleaned and this prevents much of the luster from being displayed. Please note that both of these Apatite crystals have very transparent sections and their is a really unusual color banding throughout both Apatites. It seems as though the core of both crystals is partially yellow while the rind is splotched with Lilac and Yellowish color banding. |
