DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of Tri-Colored Afghan Tourmaline Top Crystal Rough. These are a site to behold! They are all Tri-Colored crystals that go from a Silver base to a Minty Sea-Foam Green and are capped off with a Pastel Pink. THEY ARE BEING SOLD AS CRYSTALS AND SHOULD BE PURCHASED AS SUCH; however, they are very clean and can be faceted should you so chose!

If you decide to facet them, I don't think you can preserve any of the Pink in the faceted stones as the Pink barely goes beyond the surface of the tips. Most if not all of these will facet to be Pastel Minty Sea-Foam Green to White Bicolors with good color separations. The lot as a whole is probably running about 70% High to Top Facet Grade. There are some inclusions in the crystals and you will have to work them into the finished stones OR cut smaller stones that are clean.

I think all three crystals could cut good bi-colors that face up eye-clean to very slightly included; however, we honestly would like to see these stones preserved as crystals and are therefore selling them as such and have discounted them accordingly to make them more affordable to the crystal collectors. All three of these have Terminated tips with excellent luster and one is even doubly terminated. The stones are averaging almost 15 CARATS and run from 26 to 36 MM in length! This is all we have and we are blowing them out at $7 Per Carat!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
