DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of two LARGE Afghan Tourmalines running from a lovely Bluish Green to a Neon Blue.

Stone one is definitely the one with the better color; however, it is slightly included pretty much throughout. The stone is very bright and it does have some gemmy areas to facet that may produce a few stones that face up very well in the 1-2 or so carat range with a little hard work; however, it may be better suited for an exceptional Cab.

Stone two is what we purchased these two stones for and is extremely clean. There are some veils inside the stone that will force you to divide it into 2 or 3 finished gems; however, it is exceptionally large and Afghan Tourmaline of that size is pricey even for material that needs to be divided up. The C Axis on Stone 2 is a bit dark; however, we are confident that it will produce some spectacular finished gems with a little hard work. If Stone two were clean it wouldn't sell for less than $50-$70 per gram and we have discounted the parcel to reflect the clarity. This is a steal at our price so move quick before it is gone!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
