DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of a New Discovery of VERY STRONGLY Dichroic Tourmaline coming from Tanzania. This is some really unusual Tourmaline that runs an Orangey Peach to Peach color down the AB Axis and a Hunter to Olive Green color down the C Axis. Much of the material has a really dark to closed C axis and you will have to cut this to complement the C Axis; however, we are confident you will take out some rare finished gems from this lot! Overall the material looks glassy clean and almost every stone should yield an Eye-clean or better finished gem with a little planning.

This is all I have of this material and I don't know how much more was produced or will be produced! This was sold off to us as Sunset Tourmaline but it is unlike any Tourmaline we have seen before because of the dichroism. This is NOT small material with the average being a bit over 13 carats and at $1.00 Per Carat there really is no way you can go wrong with this lot!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Tanzania has become a heavy hitter in the world of Gemstone rough in the last few decades and is producing more and more rough as the days go buy. Sunset Tourmaline is just one of the new finds that is coming from Tanzania and also Kenya and the material is quite unlike any other Green and/or Orange Tourmaline available in the market. Tanzanian Sunset Tourmaline is characterized by a strong dichroism where the AB and C axis have a combination of colors running from a Golden Orange to a Golden Yellow and/or Grassy Green. Many stones produce very unusual finished gems due to this dichroism and are highly sought after by collectors.
