Awesome lot of Afghan Tourmaline ranging in color from Neon Bluish Green & Minty Blue to Sea-foam Green. This is a really cool lot with almost every piece being a cutter and nice and bright. C axis is wide open and most stones are crystal sections shaped for high return. Most of the stones in this lot will cut eye-clean or better with the bulk being able to facet 10x clean. There are a few nodules in here that are the trademark of Afghan Tourmaline and a few almost Peridot colored stones. 1-2 stones have been semi-preformed to remove inclusions. Most stones in here should cut 1-2 carats and run eye-clean or better. This is great material for select rough sale or cutting and is sure to please all.

1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color& quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
