DESCRIPTION:

Awesome Lot of Fuchsia to Peachy Pink Nigerian Rubellite Tourmaline Faceting & Cabbing Rough. This lot represents some of the fruits of our labor on our recent Trip to Nigeria. Most stones in here are very slightly to slightly included at best and most finished stones will probably be Eye-clean to Slightly Included. Overall we estimate that roughly 40% of this lot is High Facet Grade capable of faceting Eye-Clean to Very slightly included or better with a little hard work and planning. The remaining 60% is a mix of Cabbing Grade and potentially additional Facet Grade Rough. A few of the included stones are worth faceting due to the intensity of the color. Most of the stones are nicely shaped for high yield with quite a few bulky crystal sections. We are confident that with a little hard work, proper orientation and a little planning you will take out some profound stones from in here!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Nigeria has steadily risen to be a powerhouse country for Tourmaline production and is now set to eclipse many traditional sources in sheer volume of material. Overall Nigerian material, like most African material, has the brownish overtones, darker colors and lacks the vibrancy and life that Afghan (and some Namibian and Nigerian) Tourmaline is known for; however, many Nigerian and African stones can cut beautiful finished gems that rival Afghan material. From my experience I don't think quality is even questionable as I still haven't seen any Tourmaline Floor me like the Best Afghani material in its natural crystal form! Afghan Tourmaline can cost an arm and a leg and Nigerian material is a great affordable substitute for everyone to have fun faceting some Tourmaline.
