Awesome HUGEEEEE Copper Pink to Pinkish Orange Nigerian Tourmaline Faceting & Cabbing Rough. This lot represents some of the fruits of our labor on our recent buying Trip to Nigeria. This is one of the largest Nigerian Tourmalines we have procured to date. The stone is unfortunately NOT completely clean; however, we estimate that roughly 30-40% or so of this stone is High Facet Grade. This is a somewhat unique stone in that much more than the 30-40% appears to be Facet Grade; however, there are minor inclusions dispersed throughout the stone that prevent a single large stone from being faceted that is clean. Personally, I would probably recommend a carving for this stone to make the best use of the full stone as it probably would be a travesty of justice to have someone saw this piece up in an effort to take out the clean sections. We have priced this to sell quick so don't let it slip by you! How can you go wrong at $2.00 PER CARAT????

1. Nigeria has steadily risen to be a powerhouse country for Tourmaline production and is now set to eclipse many traditional sources in sheer volume of material. Overall Nigerian material, like most African material, has the brownish overtones, darker colors and lacks the vibrancy and life that Afghan (and some Namibian and Nigerian) Tourmaline is known for; however, many Nigerian and African stones can cut beautiful finished gems that rival Afghan material. From my experience I don't think quality is even questionable as I still haven't seen any Tourmaline Floor me like the Best Afghani material in its natural crystal form! Afghan Tourmaline can cost an arm and a leg and Nigerian material is a great affordable substitute for everyone to have fun faceting some Tourmaline.
