DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of Leafy Neon Green to Yellowish Green Afghan Tourmaline Top SELECT Faceting Rough. This lot is primarily a Neon Green to a Vibrant Yellowish Green and there are several strongly dichroic stones in here. I would say that roughly 95% of this material is TOP Facet Grade. These stones have been hand selected for cutting and this is another lot that is ideal for either cutting or select rough resale! This is the material that you see retailing for $9.00+ per carat! Please note that this is NOT that Olive Green material that has plagued the market from Africa. This is some of the brightest Green Tourmaline we have seen in quite some time and there isn't too much of it produced in Afghanistan.

There are quite a few killer pieces in here. Most of the stones in this lot will cut eye-clean or better with the bulk being able to facet 10x clean. Practically every stone in the lot is a nice crystal section capable of giving above average yield. The stones are nice and bright and should hold their color well once cut. The price on this just doesn't get any better!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
