ELECTRIC BLUE TO PARAIBA TURQUOISE BLUISH GREEN

STONE 1

   
9.85 Carats & 8x10x11 MM. This is a nice and blocky crystal section shaped for high yield. The color on this is an intense Very Slightly Greenish Blue. The AB Axis is an intense almost Electric Neon Blue whereas the C Axis is a Neon Turquoise Bluish Green. The blending of the two Axis contributes to the Slightly Greenish overtones in the stone; however, this stone is to die for! The stone looks like it should cut eye-clean to very slightly included with a little planning and effort. Please note that the stone does have some surface inclusions and feathering. These are common for Tourmaline in general and are confined to the rind for the most part. We anticipate that most inclusions should easily cut out with normal faceting; however, you will have to take a few minutes to plan the orientation of this stone to insure you get an eye-clean or better finished gemstone.

STONE 2

   

11.58 Carats & 8x10x13 MM. This is a nice and blocky crystal section shaped for high yield. The color on this is an intense Very Slightly Greenish Blue. The AB Axis is an intense almost Electric Neon Blue whereas the C Axis is a Neon Turquoise Bluish Green. The blending of the two Axis accounts for the Slightly Greenish overtones in the stone; however, this stone is to die for! This stone was actually a part of Stone 1 and was cobbed apart because of a veil. The stone looks like it should cut eye-clean to very slightly included with a little planning and effort. Please note that the stone does have some very minor surface inclusions and feathering. These are common for Tourmaline in general and are confined to the rind for the most part. We anticipate that most inclusions should easily cut out with normal faceting; however, you will have to take a few minutes to plan the orientation of this stone to insure you get an eye-clean or better finished gemstone. Please note that there is a slight veil that is confined at one end of this stone and goes in about 15-20% of the crystal length. You will have to cut this out to produce an eye-clean or better finished gemstone but you may be able to mask this up well with proper cutting.

STONE 3

   
16.27 Carats & 10x11x13MM. This is a nice and chunky crystal section shaped for high yield. The color on this is the most Insane Intense Neon Bluish Green Turquoise and closely resembles Paraiba Tourmaline in Color. Sad to say this stone is not completely clean. There are some veils in here that will force you to divide the rough up into two sections with 1 equating to roughly 2/3 of the weight and 1 equating to 1/3 of the weight of the stone. It doesn't get much better than this folks as if this was completely clean we would probably have it cut. This is the material that sells for several hundred dollars per carat once cut. The good news is that most of this stone is clean and it is only the feathers that divide up the rough that form the inclusions in this stone. This means that once this stone is separated you can feasibly get two eye-clean or better finished gemstones from this with a little hard work.

Awesome lot of three Neon Greenish Blue to Intense Neon Bluish Green Turquoise Afghan Tourmaline crystal sections for High End Faceting. Please see above for a detailed description of each particular stone. This is the material that has made Afghan Tourmaline the benchmark in Tourmaline perfection! It doesn't get much better than this (Nodules being the exception). Every one of these is a SUPER lovely color and an ideally shaped crystal section. This is the material that runs $300+ per carat  once cut and is practically impossible to get your hands on in the rough. These are some great stones and EXTREMELY discounted! I don't think we have ever done Tourmaline of this caliber at this price IN New York as of yet.

This is TOP TOP faceting grade material and most stones should cut 10x clean with a little hard work and some planning. The stones do have some minor inclusions and fracturing; however, these are all confined to the surface or in close proximity to it for the most part and most should facet out with relative ease unless noted otherwise above. I only saw significant inclusions in 1 stone which will result in two finished gemstones. The largest stone in here looks like it should cut around 3-5 carats and should produce an Electric Neon Bluish Green gemstone. This lot is not for the amateur and this is PREMIUM ROUGH! If you are interested in similar colored material in smaller sizes there are several lots up and you should take a look at the particulars on them. This stuff has to be seen to be fully appreciated.

COOL FACTS:

  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
