NEON GREENISH BLUE TO

STONE 1
17.07 Carats & 9x11x15 MM. This is a nice and blocky crystal
section shaped for high yield. The color on this is a lovely Neon Slightly
Greenish Blue. In our judgment this is the best colored stone in the lot and the
per carat price on this alone would probably be $20-$25 at the least were we to
sell it as a single stone parcel. The stone looks
like it should cut eye-clean to very slightly included with a little planning
and effort. The stone has a a Deep almost Neon Green Colored C axis and this
contrasts sharply with the Blue AB Axis; however, this stone should lighten up
significantly with faceting that is complementary to the C Axis (We recommend
steep angle facets for the C Axis). You can choose how much of the Green you
want to mix into the finished gemstone by varying the facet angles on the C
Axis. Please note that the stone does have some surface inclusions and
feathering. Most of these are concentrated at one end of the crystal and on one
side. We anticipate that most inclusions should easily cut out with normal
faceting; however, you will have to take a few minutes to plan the orientation
of this stone to insure you get an eye-clean or better finished gemstone.

19.56 Carats & 10x10x18 MM. This is a nice and blocky crystal
section shaped for high yield. The color on this runs from a Slightly Bluish
Green to an almost Cobalt Blue. Please note that the C Axis on this stone is
closed;
however, this stone looks like it should cut Eye-Clean or better with little or
no effort. With a complementary cut we are confident the stone can be lightened
up significantly.

This is an Awesome lot of two Neon Greenish Blue to Blue-Green Afghan Tourmaline
crystal sections for High End Faceting. Please see above for a detailed description of
each particular stone. These are some great stones and EXTREMELY discounted!
I don't think we have ever done Tourmaline of this caliber at this price IN New
York as of yet. Both of these are a lovely
color and an ideally shaped crystal section. Most of this material runs
$100+ per carat once cut and is practically impossible to get your
hands on in the rough.
This is TOP TOP faceting grade material and
both
stones should cut 10x clean with a little hard work and some planning. One
stone does have some minor inclusions and/or fracturing; however, these are all
confined to the surface or in close proximity to it for the most part and most
if not all should facet out
with relative ease. This lot is not for the amateur and this is PREMIUM ROUGH! If you are interested
in similar colored material in smaller sizes there are several lots up and you
should take a look at the particulars on them. This stuff has to be seen to be
fully appreciated. |

Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a
result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen
Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality
material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1
kilo.

All Afghan
Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs
are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling
expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to
note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most
rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
