DESCRIPTION:

Awesome lot of COLOR SHIFT Imperial Topaz from Katlang, Pakistan running from a Pastel Peachy Pink to a Pastel Pink in color and changes to a Pale to Pastel Golden Yellow depending on light. YES FOLKS! This material is from the legendary mines at Katlang and we were EXTREMELY fortunate to acquire it at a reasonable price. This material is VERY difficult to get a hold of and is NOT to be confused with material from Gilgit/Skardu.

Gilgit/Skardu is your normal run of the mill Topaz while this material is officially classified as Imperial Topaz (thanks to the presence of Chromium from our understanding) and really is the only significant "Imperial Topaz" deposit outside of Brazil. This lot overall is composed of very glassy crystal sections and the lot looks to be roughly 85%+ Top Facet Grade.

This is actual Katlang material and not Gilgit/Skardu material and is 100% NATURAL FOLKS! Katlang is fabled for the legendary Bubble-Gum Pink Topazes it produced years ago. The dark Pinks are an ULTRA rare find these days and even this material is difficult to get at a decent price. Most of this material is uniform in size and is ideal for faceting with an average weight of 4+ Carats. This is another lot that is priced to move. We got this lot at a discount and are passing it along to you at a great saving.

COOL FACTS:
  1. There is a new treatment out in Pakistan that is turning Katlang Topaz into a lovely color that rivals the best Imperial Topaz from Brazil. You can read the GIA write-up HERE. The material is being irradiated and is stable with little or no signs of treatment. I have seen the treated material being sold as natural; however, please note that Pakistan DOES NOT produce natural orange Topaz and everything that you see come by you of this color from Pakistan should be suspect. From my understanding it is only the Katlang material that is treating to this orange color and not the Gilgit/Skardu material.

  2. A very interesting fact that has come by me is that the Katlang Topaz is being irradiated ON MATRIX. This will give the appearance of being a natural occurrence so please be aware!
