DESCRIPTION:

This is something fairly new we are starting here folks. This is a select rough mix of 5 different gemstones that run from an Golden Yellow to a Cranberry in color. The parcel consists of Afghan Scapolite, Afghan Tourmaline, Burmese Spinel, Zambian Amethyst and Zambian Citrine! Most of these should cut Eye-clean or better with a little hard work as the lot is composed of select rough. Some stones do have minor inclusions but these are almost totally confined to the periphery of the rough and should facet out with normal faceting with rare exception.

Overall the lot is composed of vibrant electric colors that are clearly visible in the above pictures. Everything in here is pretty straightforward faceting!  I think it is pretty easy to estimate the weight relationship of stones considering that the Spinel is the smallest in the lot. This is nice sized material averaging over 3 GRAMS and is really a test to see how much attention the "mix" gets. We are looking forward to hearing back from you to see if this is something we should continue (possibly in larger sizes). Please feel free to email us with possible mixes you would like to see made available along with price ranges that are acceptable and we'll see what we can put together in the future.

COOL FACTS:
  1. Afghan Tourmaline pockets tend to be relatively small in size and as a result consistency in color & quality is a rarity! We have never seen Afghan Tourmaline sold by the kilo with like colored and quality material and lots are generally small in size seldom going over 1/2-1 kilo.

  2. All Afghan Tourmaline is exhumed from primary deposits and as a result mining costs are considerably higher due to dynamite expenditures and traveling expenditures to get to remote mining areas. It is also interesting to note that since all Afghan Tourmaline is from primary deposits most rough will usually have sharp crystal faces.
