Awesome ULTRA RARE LARGE Afghan Hackmanite Faceting & Cabbing Rough Lot! This lot is composed of one unusually large Pastel Plum Hackmanite! The stone overall is cabbing grade; however, there are clearly small gemmy areas dispersed through much of the rough. We would ideally recommend Cabbing or Carving this piece to get the largest stone possible as faceting the smaller pieces would result in EXTREMELY high Weight loss. It is rare to find Hackmanite from Afghanistan in Faceting and/or Cabbing form and than to find this size and colored rough are right up there next to impossible!

Hackmanite is known to change color by exposure to different forms of light and its color change is known to be tenebresent. The color of the material at times can be enhanced by storage in a dark place; however, may fade upon exposure to light. This change is repeatable and not permanent. In addition, Hackmanite also produces some wild colors under UV light and is highly sought after by collectors. We don't know if we will ever get any more of this material in this size so for all you collectors this is a win win situation!

1. Hackmanite Facet Rough is a transparent variety of Sodalite that is "tenebresent" and is extremely rare to come across. Afghanistan has been a steady supplier to mineral enthusiasts for Hackmanite crystals and we have rarely come upon any facet grade material.
