This is a super lot of Hessonite Garnet coming from Afghanistan. The color of this material is just phenomenal and runs from a lovely Reddish Orange to a fiery Tangerine with Red Flashes! Please be aware that this rough may be a mixture of Spessartite and/or Hessonite (Possibly other Garnets as well) which are generally included species of Garnet. It is extremely difficult to acquire eye-clean to flawless rough in either species. Most of this material WILL have at least minor inclusions; however, inclusions tend to mask up well because of the high refractive index of this material. All these stones are slightly included at best and this lot really is being sold as Cabbing Rough and has been priced accordingly; however, a significant amount of the parcel is decent facet grade with several stones that will cut 1-2+ carat stones that facet up very clean. |
