Magnificent Lot of bright Pinkish Red to Orangey Red Garnet Faceting Rough from Tanzania. These were sold to us as "Malaya" and I believe they are from a fairly new deposit in Tanga. We have tested similar material in the past and it has generally proven to be Almandine Spessartite. This is select rough for the most part and almost every stone in here is a well shaped, chunky, water-worn pebble capable of giving above average yield. Most stones are nice and vibrant and will undoubtedly produce spectacular finished gems. Unlike most of the newer Garnet being produced this material is not excessively dark or brown. There may be a couple of Rhodolite and Spessartite Garnets in this parcel but that is pure speculation. It is too cost prohibitive to test and evaluate each stone. This material is running roughly 85%+ High to Top Facet Grade. We don't have a steady stock of this so grab this before it is gone. |
