This is a nice lot of Spessartite and/or Hessonite Garnet coming from Afghanistan. Most of this material is probably Hessonite; however, we have found the occasional Spessartite mixed in during testing of several stones from lots we have received in the past. The color of this material is just phenomenal and runs from a lovely almost Mandarin Orange to a fiery Tangerine with Red Flashes! This lot represents some of the better material we have seen to date!!!

Please be aware that Spessartite and/or Hessonite are generally included species of Garnet. It is extremely difficult to acquire eye-clean to flawless rough in either species. Most of this material WILL cut very slightly included stones at best and we anticipate most stones will probably be eye-clean to slightly included. Many stones have a fine sheen that is common for hessonite and these inclusions should NOT significantly impact the cleaner finished stones. This lot is running roughly 60%+ Medium to High Facet Grade and there are some nice stones in here that will cut several times the lot over with a little hard work. The clarity on this material is generally very similar to your TYPICAL Nigerian and Namibian Mandarin Garnet! Don't miss your chance on picking up this lot as this quality is a RARITY!
