This is a super lot of a NEW FIND of Hessonite Garnet coming from Afghanistan. The color of this material is just phenomenal and runs from a lovely almost Mandarin Orange to a fiery Tangerine and Orangey Red! Please be aware that this rough may be a mixture of Spessartite and/or Hessonite (Possibly other Garnets as well) which are generally included species of Garnet. It is extremely difficult to acquire eye-clean to flawless rough in either species. Most of this material WILL have at least minor inclusions; however, most inclusions tend to mask up well because of the high refractive index of this material. All these stones are slightly included at best; however, most of this material is probably more suited as Cabbing Grade.

There are a few really nice stones in here and I think 1 of those should more than pay for the lot. We have rough graded this material as being 40%+ facet grade and there are some KILLER stones in here. This is a ROUGH estimate and includes both low and high end facet rough. The clarity on this material is very similar to your TYPICAL Nigerian and Namibian Mandarin Garnet! Most stones will cut slightly to moderately included; however, you may be able to get a few Eye-clean stones out of this lot with a little hard work depending on yield preferences and your planning. We are estimating that the bulk of this material will cut slightly to moderately included stones. at the least Don't miss your chance on picking up this lot as Afghan Garnet is extremely RARE.
