DESCRIPTION:

Super Hot lot of 4 Bluish Green to Grassy Green Panjsher, Afghan Emerald Crystal Specimen. We've had these for some time (contemplating on whether to sell or keep them) here and have only recently got around to listing them. These are some SPECTACULAR crystals for the collector, particularly the larger one. The larger Specimen (a crystal cluster on a single crystal) has a really cool Crystal protruding from the top angled off at about 45 degrees from the piece and it is very rare to see such in nature! In addition, most of the Specimens exhibit Chatoyancy toward the bottom half of the crystals that is very pronounced. The caps on these are EXTREMELY gemmy with all four having sections that look almost eye-clean; however, we hope you are NOT evil enough to facet these! In all honestly the return wouldn't be worth Faceting these in our opinion as they are worth considerably more for their Specimen appeal. Luster on these is excellent and most have super sharp terminations as is clearly evident in the above pictures.

Oppss, almost forgot, the Largest Specimen with the crystal protruding from the side is DOUBLY terminated and the base of the crystal looks like it has about a 1.5-2 carat section that is super Green and almost Eye-Clean!! Take Care and GOOD LUCK!

COOL FACTS:
  1. Emerald is mined in western Pakistan in the Swat area and in the Panjsher Valley in Afghanistan. Afghan material is generally lighter, cleaner and considerably more lustrous while Swat material tends to be more included but of better color. Both localities produce material that is similar to Columbian in color with that notable blue overtone.

  2. Afghanistan is known to produce Emerald Nodules and these are as fabled as the old Kashmir Sapphires!
