Awesome lot of RAREEEEEEEEEE NATURAL Mandarin to Tangerine Orange Clinohumite Faceting & Cabbing Rough from Tajikistan! This material is VERY sporadically produced and we were EXTREMELY lucky to be able to acquire any! Facet & Cab grade Clinohumite is really only produced in one location in the world and this material is probably as rare as it gets for stones. We have NEVER encountered this material in the rough previously abroad and have only seen a handful of cut stones available with most being in the .20-.40 or so carat range. Heck, the seller of this material initially told us that it was Spinel from Tajikistan as there really is a total lack of information on such oddities in the marketplace in Pakistan. From what we have been informed, the locals in Tajikistan call this Orange Spinel. This material is RARELY eye-clean and slightly included material looks to be the norm at best when going over 1 carat in size. Cut stones that go over 1 carat are practically unheard of with only a 1/2 dozen or so stones known to be in existence. Most of those stones are slightly included at best! We have seen slightly included stones above 1 carat go from a few hundred Per Carat to well over $1,000 depending on size. Overall, one of these stones is clearly cabbing grade and more on the low end in quality at that; however, the second stone is very gemmy though overall it looks moderately included. The second stone is very transparent though much of it has a fine sheen with small very transparent areas; however, we would probably suggest going for a larger stone that will probably be a record breaker for size in most areas. I think if you went for smaller cleaner stones you will probably cut in the very slightly to slightly included range depending on size whereas a large stone would probably be slightly to moderately included at best. Please note that these are both nice chunky crystal sections and we are confident that weight returns should be average or better. There really is no way you can lose on this at our price as one 30 pointer would pay the lot price over 2 or 3 times at retail! |
